Consultant Psychiatrist - Regency Ward (Inpatient),Hove (RRP payable) Sussex Partnership have an exciting opportunityfor a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our acute services at MillView Hospital in Hove (in the Brighton and Hove Division). Thispost has become available due to an internal move. The Consultantwill work with working age patients on Regency Ward (10 PA's), a 19bed acute adult mental health ward. The Consultant will work with afull time Specialist (SAS) grade doctor. Regency Ward is situatedin Mill View Hospital where there are 4 other acute wards withtheir own fully established medical teams. The Crisis Resolutionand Home Treatment Team is located within the hospital and acceptsreferrals from acute wards to facilitate supportive discharges.Mill View Hospital is also the base for some of the Brighton andHove Community Mental Health Teams. The Consultant will workclosely with the well-established and supportive multi-disciplinaryTeam, which also includes a full time SAS Doctor and residentdoctors (as per rotational training scheme) to deliverperson-centred mental health care. You will be supported by ourwonderful substantive nursing staff, occupational therapists andpsychologists to support, formulate and implement treatment plans.We regularly support medical students on placement from Brightonand Sussex Medical School. Main duties of the job The ConsultantPsychiatrist will provide assessment and treatment for voluntaryand detained patients with a range of acute mental healthconditions. You will work closely with the nursing team, alliedhealth professionals, families and carers. There is also a clinicalpsychologist for the wards and reflective practice groups andbite-size training sessions also take place on a weekly basis,facilitated by a psychologist. The Consultant Psychiatrist willprovide senior medical leadership to the ward and take the lead inmanaging complex cases, as well as providing clinical advice andliaison as required to colleagues in primary care, communityservices and acute specialties. You will provide specialist medicaladvice and consultation to a range of health and social care staffto promote effective delivery of person-centred mental health care.You will work closely with the well-established and supportiveMulti-Disciplinary Team to contribute towards local servicedevelopment. You will also be part of a Trust wide consultantnetwork, where there are opportunities to liaise with colleagues inother posts throughout the Trust and develop peer networks. Youwill also see consultant peers weekly at the local academicprogramme, at regular meetings in the locality, and at clinicalgovernance meetings. About us This job attracts a Recruitment andRetention payment of £25,000, in addition to (up to) £8000relocation allowance. The RRP payment is paid in the followinginstalments: - £5000 payment paid on appointment - £5000 retentionpayment paid at 12 month anniversary of employment - £6500retention payment paid at 30 month anniversary of employment -£8500 retention payment paid at 48 month anniversary of employmentThe Recruitment and Retention payment is pro rata for part timeemployees. Person Specification - Approved clinician status OR ableto achieve within 3 months of appointment Transport - Holds andwill use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposedalternative. Qualifications - MB BS or equivalent medicalqualification. - Fully registered with the GMC with a licence topractise at the time of appointment. - Included on the GMCSpecialist Register OR within six months. - In good standing withGMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
