Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Acute CareInpatient Psychiatry There are 2 wards for adults in Ablett Unit,with 10 beds for females (Dinas Female) and 10 beds for maleinpatients (Dinas male) as well as s136 suite. The Home TreatmentTeam is also based in the Ablett Unit. The Ablett unit also hostsan 8 bedded male locked rehabilitation ward (Cynnydd) as well as a10 bedded Older Persons' functional ward (Tegid ward). The adultacute care service covers the 20 bedded adult ward and the HomeTreatment Team (HTT). The Home Treatment Team has the capacity totake on approximately 25 patients at any one time. CrisesResolution Services are provided within the local community mentalhealth services and do not form part of this acute care model. TheAcute care Teams work collaboratively with CMHTs to ensure timelycommunication and care planning. The care of individuals is subjectto the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010 and the post holder isexpected to work in line with the requirements of the MH Measure.The post holder will provide patient-centered recovery-based carethrough a supervisory and consultancy role. They will provideResponsible Clinician oversight for approximately half of the ADULTacute care service covering 10 beds and half the HTT patientsalongside the other Substantive Approved Clinician. Main duties ofthe job The post holder will be the treating consultant alongsidethe other Approved Clinician for inpatients admitted to Dinas Maleand female wards and those accepted for Home Treatment Team. Theadult inpatient wards admit patients from Denbighshire and Conwyand occasionally from the East and West areas. The Division has anactive bed management process, which allows flexibility in managingthe available beds. On occasion, patients are admitted to thecorresponding units in the east and west localities. Admissions tothe wards typically come from the community via CMHT or the generalhospitals via Psychiatric Liaison Service. Medical oversight ofadmissions occurs with a handover of consultant responsibility atthe time of admission and discharge. The post holder and colleaguesin the community work closely to facilitate continuity of care anddischarge planning. The CMHT remains involved in patient care whenadmitted. The post holder will be the responsible clinician forpatients admitted under the Mental Health Act. They will providemedical leadership to the multidisciplinary team. The post holderwill work closely with the sector consultant, CMHT, and localauthorities to provide continuity of care and robust dischargeplanning. The post holder will work using the Mental Health Measureand local policies. The post holder will be the supervising doctorfor junior doctors attached to the post. Clinical Skills - Evidence of trainingin the core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry. -Experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team. - Experience ofcommunity psychiatric practice.
