We are looking for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon to join our team at Abbey Vet Clinic on a permanent basis. The role would suit an experienced clinician who is ready to take on more responsibilities and help to develop the skills and knowledge of more recent graduates, as well as their own.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established team. If you are looking to specialise, we can provide that opportunity, whether you would like to study for a certificate or offer specialist services or treatments. We have varied surgical and medical caseloads where you will have clinical freedom to follow your own cases with daily opportunities for operating. We undertake a large amount of work for our local Cats Protection branch and have now started a dedicated cat clinic.

Flexible work patterns for your best life balance.

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

We work 40 hours over a 4/5 day week with Saturday mornings shared on an equal rota; however, we are open to flexible working or part-time hours for the right candidate. No OOH requirement.

What you’ll be stepping into:

We have two well-established branches located in the picturesque towns of Arbroath and Forfar. These vibrant communities offer the perfect blend of coastal beauty and countryside charm, with Arbroath’s seaside views and Forfar’s hills, providing a peaceful yet engaging environment for both work and leisure.

Both branches are fully equipped with the latest veterinary tools, including iM3 dental machines, digital radiology, and IDEXX biochemistry and haematology equipment. We are committed to ongoing investment in our facilities. Recent refurbishment work is underway, and we will soon be installing a brand-new dental x-ray machine in our Arbroath branch to further enhance our dentistry services.

Arbroath offers a vibrant coastal lifestyle, with beautiful beaches, historical landmarks, and a lively town atmosphere. It's perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities and the peace and beauty of nature while still having access to great local amenities.

Our team and culture:

Our practice is a welcoming and supportive environment, dedicated to both personal development and the highest level of veterinary care. Whether you are a seasoned vet or a newly qualified graduate, you will be joining a collaborative team that strives for excellence.

Our team currently consists of 4 experienced vets and 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), who have taken a hands-on role, running their own clinics. Our RVNs excel in a range of services, including nail clipping, post-op discharges and examinations, blood pressure monitoring, and blood sampling. We truly value nurse-led initiatives and the integral role our RVNs play in patient care.

Because our people matter:

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
