The Senior Director,Modality Strategy (internal title) is a senior role and reportsinto the VP of Global Marketing. In this role, you will lead andown the profitability and growth strategy of one or more of themodalities, namely: (Mammalian Cell Culture, Microbial, AdvancedTherapies or Drug Product/Finished Goods), and will be responsiblefor the successful realization of our Partners for Life Strategy(our internal company goals and objectives) and our aspiration toquadruple our revenue by 2030. You will lead the cross-functionalmodality team with representation from all key functions, includingbut not limited to: Finance, Marketing, Communications, Commercial,Operations (sites), Process Development, Global Engineering,Quality (QA/QC/Regulatory), KojoX Strategy (innovative, modularoperational delivery ecosystem), Business Intelligence &Insights, Business Development, and Science & Innovation. Inthis role, you will be an expert in the market landscape includingcompetitors (CDMO) and customers (Pharmaceutical companies),participate in determining where and how we should play within themarket to deliver a cohesive strategy and differentiated offeringfor the assigned modality. You will be leading the establishment ofand delivery on the dedicated end-to-end modality strategy togetherwith the cross-functional team. You must ensure the involvement,accountability, and cross-functional collaboration and coordinationrequired to drive high performance. The Strategy must ensure astrong value proposition differentiating us from the competition.The Strategy shall define the ambition, set the strategic goals andpriorities, and align with an actionable kojoX strategy (ouroperational philosophy and delivery excellence ecosystem), and setthe strategic goals. The Strategy will be presented to the StrategyDecision Forum and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for input andapproval, including investment requirements. As the SeniorDirector, you are responsible for delivering on the service linefinancial MTP/LTP goals, our kojoX strategy, and the 2030 Partnersfor Life strategy. Together with the cross-functional team you willensure that we deliver on and own the modality strategy, developsolutions to increase efficiency, and ensure that allcustomer-facing activities align with the overall strategy. In thishighly visible role, you will advise and support allocation andmanagement of resources, including budget, personnel and technologyto support the approved strategy. As a Senior Director, you willhave P&L transparency and the ability to have a significanteffect using your highly consultative and influencing skillswithout having direct authority. The successful candidate willfocus on modality strategy and life cycle management,cross-functional team leadership, and organizational alignmentensuring that all strategies and tactics implemented across themodality are customer-centric and deliver value to the targetaudience. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability toinfluence all levels within the organization to make an impact.Role & Responsibilities - Develop and continuously maintain anupdated modality strategy based on market insights, detailing andrecommending where FDB should position itself and how to growprofitability within the modality. - Provide insights on market,competitors, and customer needs to identify business synergies,opportunities, dependencies, improvements, market expansions, oracquisition targets that address roadmap strategy and provide acompetitive advantage within the modality. - Ensure alloperational, marketing and commercial efforts are aligned,customer-centric and deliver value to the target audience and meetsales and profitability goals. - Present business case, strategy,and future roadmap recommendations, to the Strategy Decision Forumand ELT for input and approval, including investment requirements.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successfulprioritization and implementation of aligned tactics in support ofthe approved modality strategy and roadmap. Develop and socialize alaunch playbook to train internal teams on the approved strategyand tactics. - Ensure organizational alignment between the modalitystrategy, kojoX and our Partners for Life strategies. - Ensuremodality roadmap priorities reflect and are revised for continuousimprovement to account for market, customer and competitiveinsights. Ensure roadmap priorities are reflected in innovation,business development, and marketing strategies. - Define, deliver,and optimize modality strategy value proposition with the Marketingand Commercial teams to ensure alignment with customersegmentation, go-to-market strategy and tactics. Createevidence-based proof points and case studies that differentiate ourofferings. - Collaborate with our Business Development team onbusiness expansion initiatives; perform gap analyses to determinewhere the Company can become more competitive and how we strengthenour overall business strategy. - Support the development andimplementation of dedicated marketing and commercial strategiesthat align with the overall modality strategy and business goals.Collaborate with commercial to ensure a robust sales pipeline thatcan fill the service line manufacturing capacity (short, mid, andlong term). - Participate in strategic commercial dialogues withkey partners and provide technical expertise to sales teams andcustomers as needed. - Create, maintain, and continuously improvemodality roadmaps to ensure alignment with market, customer andcompetitive insights, capacity of operational footprint andbudgets. - Drive P/L (Revenue, ROS, PM, EBITDA etc.) transparencyand insights for continued financial performance improvement. -Track and report operational performance (KPIs) to ensure highcustomer trust and satisfaction. - Collaborate as needed to developkey areas of improvement and focus to deliver the Partners for Lifestrategy, with an ongoing engagement of and partnership with ELT. -Provide modality strategy and life cycle management and lead newservice line offering development through leadership of across-functional team. - Perform other activities as assigned.Qualifications and Experience - Bachelor’s degree required inbusiness administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a relatedfield (preferred). Master’s degree preferred. - 15+ years ofexperience with business strategy leadership, ideally within theCDMO and/or Pharmaceutical industry. - Proven experience in a roleworking with senior leadership and executive teams, navigating amatrix management and governance structure. - Proven experience ina role to effectively manage cross-functional teams and driveprocess improvements. - Proven experience in product life cycleprocesses and management, product service offering development andlaunch. - Advanced experience in project management and processimprovement, including planning, executing, and monitoringprojects, is essential. Familiarity with methodologies like Agileor Lean can be particularly beneficial. - Demonstrated ability towork effectively with various departments, such as sales,operations, and customer service, to ensure cohesive strategyexecution required. - Excellent communication skills, both writtenand verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly andconcisely. - Proficiency in creating visually compellingpresentations using tools like Microsoft PowerPoint. - Demonstratedpresentation skills, with the ability to engage and influencediverse audiences. - Exceptional interpersonal skills and theability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. -Strategic thinker with analytical capabilities to gather andsynthesize information into insights for decision-making. -Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimalsupervision. - Advanced understanding of confidentiality. - A broadand sufficiently deep end-to-end understanding of the productservice line area (Mammalian Cell Culture, Advanced Therapies, DrugProduct/Finished Goods, or Microbial) as well as knowledge of thepharmaceutical value chain of our customers. - Strong businessacumen. - Result driven mindset with a proven ability to influencemultiple functions across an organization.
