We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join our OTC (Over the Counter) team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering category budgets on sales, margin, cash profit, and central income while ensuring the needs of our retail and wholesale customers are met. You will manage supplier relationships to ensure market leading product ranging, pricing, promotional, and supply strategies that meet and exceed annual targets.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join our OTC (Over the Counter) team.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning:Support in delivering the OTC Strategic Plans and achieving financial objectives through promotional planning, pricing, range, merchandising, and supplier strategies.
  • Supplier Relations:Develop solid relationships with manufacturers to generate incremental funding income and ensure comprehensive business planning.
  • Promotional Management:Assist in delivering a strong and balanced promotional program across retail and wholesale channels, maximising sales and profit.
  • Performance Monitoring:Monitor, report, and propose actions on market OTC performance to help define OTC Strategy.
  • Service Levels:Ensure appropriate service levels to all internal customers, meeting deadlines and agreed actions across various teams.
  • Stock Management:Assist the Supply Chain team in attaining service and stock level KPIs through effective communication.
  • Space Planning:Support the Space Planning Manager in managing category micro space to maintain profitability and maximise sales opportunities.
  • Team Support:Coach and guide OTC Development Managers to meet individual and business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing and category management within a fast moving retail environment.
  • Experience working with OTC manufacturers or driving OTC category in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Strong negotiation skills for supplier promotional income.
  • Excellent supplier management skills with exposure to complex relationships.
  • Strong financial awareness and ability to analyse and interpret complex data.
  • Extensive knowledge of the consumer and wholesale supply chain, ideally FMCG.
  • Strong commercial acumen and category management skills.

Required Skills

  • Experience in marketing and category management within a fast moving retail environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with OTC manufacturers or driving OTC category in the pharmaceutical sector.

Pay range and compensation package

  • £48,000 per annum
  • 22 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (Increases to 30 days with length of service)
