Exciting Senior BMS Role at The Doctors Laboratory, Salford
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time experienced HCPC registered Senior Biomedical Scientist to work in our Biochemistry and Serology Department at The Doctors Laboratory, Salford.
Referred to internally as The Manchester Laboratory, this is state of the art, superbly equipped lab and handles the workload of a number of Private hospitals, clinics, GP practices in the Northern Region. Working as part of a team, this is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills, knowledge and experience in a highly automated Clinical Biochemistry Department.
You will, together with laboratory management, be responsible for the performance of the service delivered by the Biochemistry/Serology Department for TDL Manchester. You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills in order to grow in the role. You will be working with the Blood Sciences team to ensure a co-ordinated and effective service is provided by best use of staff and resources to continue to provide a service to UKAS ISO 15189 standards. You will on occasion be required to work at other network sites for meetings or training to maintain quality, training and service requirements.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated candidate with appropriate qualifications including an MSc; and relevant experience to join the senior team of the department. You will be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist and have a broad post registration experience within a Biochemistry/Serology laboratory. You will need significant experience at specialist Biomedicl Scientist level; desirable experience includes health and safety, audits, appraisal and staff development and UKAS 15189 standards and quality.
The laboratory is UKAS accredited to ISO 15189 and the department is currently well equipped with a number of Roche COBAS, Mast Pledia and Abbott Alinity analysers.
As part of the role, there is also a requirement to participate in the out of hours rota for the Blood Sciences department at TDL Manchester. As a guideline this would involve working a Late Shift, one week in 4, with a finishing time of 9.00pm or 10.00pm and working one Saturday in 4, from 11.30 am to 8.00pm
