An exciting opportunity has arisen for this brand new role supporting the Sales team within the Environmental Risk Sciences (ERS) division of Smithers, based in Harrogate.

Smithers ERS Limited provides a wide range of environmental safety testing services for the pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial and specialty chemical, and personal care industries. Our team includes experienced scientists and technicians offering a broad range of skills and areas of expertise.

We are looking for a driven, energetic and organized individual who is a self-motivated and confident communicator. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting the Sales team, contacting new and existing clients in an effort to drive sales for the business.

Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the individual will have the option to work either onsite, remotely or in a hybrid model. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting activities which create lead generation from a variety of marketing activities, including following up contacts from conferences, webinars and online web enquiries, as well as contributing ideas for new lead generation.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting to potential and existing clients to drive sales
  • Responsible for the follow-up of marketing-generated leads
  • Maximise the conversion rate of lead generation activities through sales campaigns to qualify, score and nurture generated leads
  • Support enquiry generation though appointment setting, calling campaigns to lapsed clients and other targeted calling projects
  • Assist in maximising the return of sales effort by identifying and routing only actionable sales opportunities and those leads meeting agreed parameters to the commercial team

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum requirements:

  • Appropriate academic qualifications (GCSEs, A Levels or equivalent)
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and specialised software (CRM)

Desirable:

  • Experience in a business development, telemarketing or account management role
  • Experience working in a sales and target driven environment
  • Demonstrable experience in drilling down to understanding clients’ needs and motivations to purchase
  • Experience working in a customer service environment
  • Experience working in telephone-based role
  • Experience using CRM systems
  • Experience using sales databases to develop lists in a compliant manner
  • Preferable: science/biology/chemistry-based background
