Registered Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal

MBM Veterinary Group is pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our welcoming and experienced small animal team. We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated nurse who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. In return, we provide a supportive working environment, opportunities for career development, and a genuine commitment to promoting work-life balance.

About MBM Vets

MBM Veterinary Group is a long-established, independently run practice based in Ayrshire, close to the coast and near Glasgow and central Scotland. Our team operates across three branches in Kilmarnock, Mauchline, and Beith, offering a wide range of veterinary services across small animal, farm, and equine sectors. The area is ideal for outdoor activities such as equestrian sports, cycling, golf, hillwalking, and water sports.

Our facilities are modern and well-equipped, including digital and dental radiography, ultrasound with colour Doppler, endoscopy, ECG, electrocautery, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory for diagnostic testing, cytology, haematology, biochemistry, and point-of-care testing.

We are proud to host VetsNow out-of-hours services, enabling us to keep hospitalized patients on-site overnight, avoiding transfers during critical care.

Our Team and Culture

You will join a close-knit team of 20 veterinary surgeons, including specialists and those pursuing further qualifications, supported by 16 RVNs, four nursing assistants, and eight reception staff. Our culture emphasizes respect, collaboration, and clinical excellence, with a strong focus on professional development.

About the Role

The position is primarily based at our Beith branch, with occasional shifts at Kilmarnock and Mauchline. Responsibilities include consultations, surgical support, inpatient care, emergency triage, and reception duties. Candidates confident in nurse-led clinics and client education are preferred.

Client communication is vital, and nurses are encouraged to pursue CPD aligned with RCVS guidelines, with full support from the practice.

Why Join MBM Vets?

This is a unique opportunity to join a respected veterinary group with a rich heritage and modern outlook. We offer a varied caseload, a supportive team, excellent facilities, and a vibrant local area for outside activities, making this role ideal for a fulfilling, balanced career.

Working Hours

Up to 40 hours per week, structured over four or five days, with participation in a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota (8:30am to 1:00pm). No out-of-hours or on-call duties. Part-time and flexible working patterns are considered.
