We are looking for a dedicated RVN to join our team at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists as a Dispensary Nurse, where your attention to detail and passion for excellent patient care will play a vital role in ensuring safe and effective medication management.

This is a unique opportunity to specialise in the vital area of veterinary dispensary within a busy, multidisciplinary referral hospital. Working closely with our clinicians and nursing teams, you will ensure the efficient dispensing and handling of medications, supporting our high standards of patient care while developing your own knowledge and skills in this key field.

Your responsibilities will include:

*Dispensing prescribed medications and handling client queries, including taking payments.

*Managing and fulfilling order lists, including repeat prescriptions and staff orders.

*Overseeing stock control, ordering, and bi-annual stock checks in line with IVC protocols.

*Ensuring secure storage and handling of all pharmaceutical products on site.

*Sourcing medications and products from a range of suppliers and pharmacies as required.

*Maintaining dispensary SOPs and ensuring daily cleaning and compliance tasks are completed.

*Representing SCVS in external meetings with suppliers and regulatory bodies (e.g. VMD).

*Supporting documentation requirements such as import certificates.

SCVS are a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise and knowledge to support the most complex of cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.

Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre. The improvements do not stop here, with further additions to include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area, plus much more.

We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds. Our advanced nursing team provide excellent care to all patients during their stay at SCVS. We also have a team of dedicated veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

What you will bring to our team

*We are looking for a proactive and highly organised RVN with a keen eye for detail.

*Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular liaison with both clients and internal teams.

*Confidence in managing stock and following protocol is key.

*Previous experience in a referral setting or in a dispensary role is advantageous.

*A qualification such as SQP-C, or an interest in pursuing further learning in this area, would be beneficial.

Shift pattern

We are happy to consider full time or part time hours for this role. A full time role would comprise a Mon-Fri shift pattern with 1:4 Saturdays, 08:00-14:00. We could also consider a 3 or 4 day working week, plus the Saturday rota if part time is preferred.
