Elevation Recruitment Group have the pleasure of working with a leading chemical engineering manufacturing business in the recruitment of an R&D Chemist to join their facility in Leeds.

Our client is at the forefront of innovation and sustainability and are recognised for being pioneers in their field, specialising in the development of cutting-edge solutions across a wide range of industries.

Reporting into senior leadership, the R&D Chemist will form part of a multi-disciplined group of scientists and will be responsible for the formulation of new and existing products, testing and upscaling whilst taking ownership of the projects run at a European level.

This role will suit an R&D chemist who is confident collaborating with multiple departments, and a strong people leader with a continuous improvement mindset. 

Duties of the R&D Chemist include:

Supervise and support the junior members of the team while having direct line management responsibility of 1 Lab technician Generate and execute project documentation and briefs to deliver the agreed pipeline projects  Identify and deliver opportunities to increase customer value Deliver improved product performance and differentiated outcomes Stay up to date with the competitive landscape and latest developments  Contribute to technical assessment to build strategic plans - Technology Roadmaps and CBI projects Manage and report the progress of key development project Plan and organise laboratory activities, support investigations and upscaling activities in the factory Analyse process data to maintain and report Key Process measures Work with colleagues in a way which supports an engaging and motivational culture Ensure a level of flexibility within the team, with the ability to cover and support the needs of the wider teams Ensure compliance with regulations, legislation and all company regulatory, health and safety procedures and guidelines

We would be keen to speak with R&D Chemists with the following:

BSc (Hon) in scientific subject Proven experience in Formulation environment - Aerosol products, downstream chemical blending, paints, emulsions, greases or process lubricants  Knowledge of GLP quality requirements skills gained in similar work  Experience of working within a quality management system (e.g. 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025, 13485) Awareness of REACH Project management awareness Excellent written and verbal communication skills  Experience working with external suppliers and distributors
