The Role

As our Quality Manager, you’ll play a key senior leadership role with the autonomy to shape how Quality is led and delivered across our global operations. Based in the UK, you’ll oversee our local Quality team and provide leadership support to colleagues in the USA and Qingdao.

The Quality Manager position balances strategic direction with hands-on operational engagement — you’ll lead on accreditations, audits, and continuous improvement, while also acting as a visible point of contact for quality issues across departments, customers, and suppliers.

Our Quality Manager manages and develops a UK-based team, maintains ISO9001 and IEC (phone number removed) certifications, and is the company’s subject matter expert on all things Quality.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop our UK-based Quality Engineers, managing workloads and promoting a constructive, solution-focused culture.

  • Provide guidance to Quality personnel in the USA and Qingdao, ensuring alignment and consistency across regions.

  • Act as the senior point of accountability for all Quality matters within the business.

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Sales, Service, and Purchasing to resolve issues and embed improvements.

  • Champion open communication and consistent messaging on Quality across all levels.

  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement and root cause analysis.

    Core Quality Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop company-wide compliance with ISO9001 and IEC (phone number removed).

  • Lead UK external audits and support remote audits in the USA and Qingdao.

  • Manage the internal audit programme, including planning, delivery, and follow-up.

  • Handle non-conformances: investigate root causes, implement corrective/preventive actions, and track resolution.

  • Report on Quality KPIs and metrics, feeding into Management Review and improvement planning.

  • Co-ordinate updates to processes and documentation as part of quality improvements.

  • Support inspection activities throughout production, with focus on higher-risk areas.

    Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Ensure timely, effective handling of customer feedback and Improvement Reports, liaising directly with customers when needed.

  • Lead resolution of warranty claims and service-related issues, including coordination of repairs and parts.

  • Work with Engineering and Production to investigate issues and drive robust solutions.

  • Manage supplier and subcontractor quality concerns, including rejections and corrective actions.

  • Support Purchasing with supplier approvals and quality assessments.

    Requirements

  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor qualification

  • Degree equivalent work experience in an engineering or manufacturing discipline

    Experience:

  • 5-year experience in a quality engineer role

  • 2-year experience in a quality manager role

  • Experience with ISO 9001 / ISO 14001

  • Experience working across multiple sites

  • Experience with IEC (phone number removed) is desirable
