Job Purpose
Provide leadership and long term direction for all safety, quality, service, productivity and cost reduction objectives and goals of the value stream's operations while meeting internal and external customer needs. Understanding the critical inputs into the key operational metrics to drive improvement and implement change.
This is a ‘hands on’ role. Some aspects of the role will include dealing with the day to day running of the business activities together with supporting the Team Leaders and the escalation process.
Safety:
Provide leadership and direction that will promote safe working practices
Analyse SOP and Risk Assessments to authorise approval and release as controlled documents
Lead the efforts to create a safe working environment by facilitation of problem solving, A3 process
Drive 5S, housekeeping and recycling programs
Leadership:
Responsible and accountable for team members GPS reviews
Provide feedback and direction to team leaders to provide effective
coaching/counselling
of team members as necessary
Monitor and evaluate team members, and adjust training where needed.
Act as a role model and change agent and drive ELS
Positively lead and influence team leaders and team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals
Acting as a liaison, represents the asset in general interfacing with the rest of the organisation
Translate goals into team priorities and respond to production needs
Communication:
Coordinate and assign activities for the value stream team leaders and team members
Communicate at MDI to report operations progress, issues and needs
Develop, design and deliver presentations to team members and senior management
Team Development:
Coach and development of team leaders and team members
Manage conflict resolution and disciplinary processes – initial investigation
Identify and train a member of your direct team to provide coverage during your absence
Support Facility Objectives:
Drive team metrics and ELS initiatives
Improve productivity and reduce manufacturing variability through the development and implementation of best practices and auditing
Make certain that all employees are following the standard operating procedures and training instructions
Lead the efforts to identify the root cause and put preventative actions in place
Maintain Quality Control processes to ensure products/services meet quality standards, conduct workmanship interviews
Identify opportunities and drive the implementation of process improvements
Manage production flow, staffing schedule and resources to budget and plan
Communicate and monitor key operational metrics
Follow the company policies and lead by example
Collaborate with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes
Identify, investigate and provide leadership for team based ELS projects
Make efforts to reduce manufacturing waste and process complexity
Manage inventory processes to ensure good control of obsolescence, quality status items, cycle counts and FIFO
Understand and drive the business needs and priorities
Lead and drive the MDI process
Lead and facilitate problem solving for high level operational issues
Adhere to Team Manager standard work
Qualifications
Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in manufacturing environment
Flexibility to accept and respond to multiple tasks and deliver results
Demonstrated effective leadership in managing teams
Ability to think ahead, anticipates problems, make decisions and take appropriate action
IT competence ideally with Google and MS Office applications
Good understanding of operating procedures
Experience of working with EHS, quality and finance
