Providing expert solutions across various sectors, they work seamlessly within a multi-disciplinary team, trusted by our clients to deliver inventive solutions to complex technical design challenges.
In this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of Engineers and Designers working to deliver multiple projects as part of a site-based alliance between BakerHicks and the end client (A major blue-chip international pharmaceutical company).
The projects offer great variety, ranging from small studies and de-bottlenecking or improvement works, through to new equipment and production facilities.
The scope includes GMP and non-GMP equipment (for example, black utilities).
There is an opportunity to be involved in all project stages from concept through to commissioning.
This role is based on-site, full-time in Barnard Castle, North England.
About You
As a Principal engineer, you will take responsibility for all aspects of process engineering project delivery. You will be supported by the wider BakerHicks process team, which includes several highly experienced process engineers.

Perform the role of mechanical lead
Produce mechanical engineering design deliverables (including calculations, datasheets, specifications, scopes of work and schedules)
Contribute to safety reviews, constructability reviews and other risk assessments as appropriate.
Checking and approval of mechanical deliverables to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief and customer requirements.
Reviewing vendor quotations and liaising with equipment and package vendors
Utility system specification, design, and capacity evaluation
Checking of piping design documents, including checking isometrics and layout drawings
Assist in plant layout development
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary members of the design team to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions
Requirements
Relevant Degree, such as Mechanical Engineering
Significant experience working as an engineer in the pharmaceutical sector. This can be either working directly for a manufacturing company or working for a design and engineering company.
