The ideal candidate will have a background in medical sales—ideally within eye care—or in another healthcare discipline with a strong drive to specialize in this area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales & Territory Management:
    • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow revenue and increase market share across optometry and ophthalmology practices in the South of England.
    • Engage and build strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including optometrists, ophthalmologists, clinic managers, and other decision-makers.
    • Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
  • Product Expertise & Demonstrations:
    • Develop deep product knowledge across Topcon's portfolio to serve as a knowledgeable and trusted advisor to clients.
    • Conduct on-site product demonstrations, showcasing the unique benefits and technical features of our diagnostic and treatment solutions.
    • Provide customers with product training, ensuring seamless integration and usage within their practices.
  • Customer Support & Relationship Building:
    • Maintain excellent communication and follow-up with clients, acting as the first point of contact for any product-related questions or support needs.
    • Build rapport with clients to foster loyalty and long-term partnerships, positioning Topcon as the preferred choice within the eye care industry.
  • Market Insights & Competitor Analysis:
    • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and regional market dynamics to continuously identify growth opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the marketing and product teams to communicate field insights, contributing to product development and go-to-market strategies.
  • Administrative Duties & Compliance:
    • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and outcomes.
    • Ensure all activities adhere to regulatory, ethical, and compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Proven sales experience in the medical device or healthcare industry; experience within optometry or ophthalmology sales is highly preferred.
    • Alternatively, a strong track record in medical sales from a different segment with a genuine interest in transitioning to the eye care field.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
    • Strong ability to present complex products and solutions in a clear, accessible manner to a variety of audiences.
    • Proactive, self-motivated approach with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment, treatment solutions, or software for healthcare applications.
    • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technical information, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid UK driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
    • Authorization to work in the UK.
