Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is a global leader in aerospace systems, trusted by major OEM's including Airbus, Boeing and Leonardo. From raw material to aftermarket support, their mission is to engineer smarter, safer and more reliable components that shape the future of aerospace.

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join the NPI Team in Cheltenham, Gloucester.

Key tasks

Full product lifecycle from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to modifying & supporting in service products on various aerospace programs
Lead and support the design of hydraulic and electro-mechanical products for aerospace platforms
Develop test equipment in partnership with the advanced testing team
Translate complex customer specifications into cutting-edge designs
Drive verification and validation (V&V) activities
Present innovative technical solutions to stakeholders and clients
Solve real-world challenges through cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership
Shape engineering best practices and influence technical strategyRequired:

BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Min 5 years' experience designing gears, hydraulic or electro-mechanical components in aerospace
Aerospace regulatory and standards knowledge
Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 2D/3D CAD tools
Solid understanding of: reliability & safety/airworthiness, design for manufacture, materials, stress and mechanical design, GD&T, DFMEA, and quality processes
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to travel to different locations in UK and abroad
