Are you an experienced Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer looking to take on complex, high-impact projects in highly regulated sectors? Join our client design and construction team delivering critical environments for the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and healthcare industries.

They design and build some of the most advanced cleanrooms, laboratories, and sterile manufacturing facilities in the UK and beyond – and we’re looking for someone like you to help lead the way.

Your Role

As a Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer, you’ll lead and contribute to the full project lifecycle – from concept design through detailed engineering, procurement support, and site coordination. You’ll be working on technically demanding, high-specification environments where precision and performance are everything.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC/mechanical design from RIBA Stage 1–6

  • Create coordinated layouts and specifications for:

    • Ventilation, air handling systems

    • Chilled water, steam, LTHW/HTHW

    • BMS and specialist gases

  • Ensure compliance with CDM, cGMP, ISO 14644, and building regulations

  • Collaborate with CAD teams, project managers, and procurement to deliver fully integrated solutions

  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and technical reviews

  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff

  • Produce all necessary technical documentation, schedules, and risk assessments

    What You’ll Bring

  • HNC (minimum) or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services

  • Strong experience in mechanical/HVAC design for pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences projects

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., HEVACOMP, IES, AutoCAD)

  • Deep understanding of compliance standards and design regulations

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • A solutions-driven mindset with the ability to lead multiple projects
