MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Process Analysis and Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in manufacturing processes. Analyze existing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for optimization.

  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement: Champion and lead CI Projects within Operations.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management. Monitor the performance of implemented improvements and track key metrics.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support for process improvements. Train and mentor team members on CI methodologies and best practices.

  • Process Optimization and Standardization: Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and efficiency. Optimize processes to reduce waste, improve quality, and reduce costs. Design and implement process simulations to test and validate proposed improvements.

  • Process Equipment Capability and Investment: Review process equipment capability to meet Quality Specifications and ensure robust process controls are implemented. Review NPD and EPD projects and ensure capital investment is aligned to process capability.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify and address root causes of production problems. Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions.

  • Other potential responsibilities: Oversee production tasks, driving process improvements, and ensuring the successful handover of new equipment and facilities. Act as a quality events investigator for assigned projects. Implement and lead the use of new manufacturing technologies including digital.

  • Performance monitoring: Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) like production output, scrap rates, PPM compliance, breakdowns, asset spend etc

  • Quality Improvement: Ensure all processes are documented with relevant SOP/ Risk Assessment/ Single Point Lessons to ensure the highest possible product quality standards

  • Problem solving: Identify and address production issues like equipment maintenance , and quality concerns, proposing solutions to maintain production flow.

  • Cost control: Responsible for analysing production costs and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

  • Reporting: Generate CI reports and provide updates on projects to Senior Management

  • Communication and collaboration: Collaborate and communicate regularly with different departments including sales, quality control, maintenance, and warehouse staff to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

  • Health & Safety: Ensure the Health and Safety of you, the team you work with and all visitors, by upholding Health and safety principles and manufacturing golden rules.

    Challenges

  • To understand critical process parameters to meet product quality standards and implement effective in process measurement and control.

  • To understand current equipment processing capability and ensure aligned to meet R&D methodology.

  • To align equipment 3 Year CAPEX Plan with business S&OP forecast.

    Knowledge & Skill

    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, CI Practitioner ( with engineering background), or equivalent experience as a minimum.

  • Relevant certifications such as Lean/ Lean Sigma Black Belt would be beneficial.

  • Excellent knowledge of the latest Microsoft 365 suite.

  • Possesses excellent attention to detail.

  • A driven, logical thinking individual who lives and breaths Process Control and Improvement

  • Desire to learn more for the benefit of the department and business.

  • Strong communication skills, listening and influencing skills

  • Possesses an analytical approach to work.

  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment.

  • Good people management skills, team member and builder, with the ability to motivate and empower others.

  • Have a background in chemicals / pharmaceuticals / FMCG
