Are you passionate about driving a proactive safety culture? Do you thrive on using digital tools to transform health and safety management? We're working on behalf of a leading manufacturing site in Oldham that is seeking a dynamic Health and Safety Manager to join their leadership team.
This role is ideal for an experienced health and safety professional who enjoys influencing at all levels, embedding systems, and empowering others to take ownership of safe practices. You'll play a key role in supporting the business through continuous improvement, championing digital H&S platforms, and delivering in-house training, including IOSH-accredited programmes.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the go-to facilitator for all health and safety matters on site, fostering open communication and strong engagement.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and active workforce involvement.
  • Translate complex health and safety legislation and standards into accessible, actionable guidance.
  • Develop and deliver site-specific H&S training programmes, including IOSH Working Safely and Managing Safely.
  • Leverage digital safety systems for incident tracking, risk assessment, audits, training records, and document control.
  • Manage the legal register, COSHH assessments and ensure full compliance with current UK health and safety legislation.
  • Lead or support the Management of Change process for new equipment, processes, and CDM-related projects.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with a safety-first approach.
    What We're Looking For:
  • Qualifications:
    • NEBOSH
  • Experience:
    • Working experience of dedicated H&S role within a manufacturing, FMCG, or heavy industry environment.
    • Strong digital H&S system skills.
    • Track record of delivering effective training and mentoring.
    • Experience supporting ISO 45001 and managing risk assessments (general, DSEAR, COSHH, fire, machinery etc).
    • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
      Desirable:
  • Membership with IOSH (Certified/Chartered).
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and SMETA Sedex standards.
  • First Aid at Work certified.
  • Experience supporting CDM projects.
