About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Health & Safety Manager to take a leadership role in managing and enhancing health, safety, and CDM compliance across a portfolio of technically complex design and construction projects. You will act as the senior point of contact for all health and safety matters, developing and implementing best practices while supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

This is a pivotal opportunity to join a multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering high-quality facilities in the scientific, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing project safety standards, auditing, training, compliance with legislation, and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the business.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and manage health and safety strategy across the organisation at a senior managerial level

Maintain, develop, and implement company H&S and CDM policies and procedures

*

Advise on changing legislation and ensure company-wide compliance

*

Oversee risk assessments, audits, training programs, and inspection processes

*

Coordinate and contribute to safety planning and project documentation including pre-construction information and H&S files

*

Conduct site audits, accident investigations, and enforce corrective actions

*

Mentor and train internal staff, ensuring continuous professional development and awareness of safety requirements

*

Collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and external consultants to maintain a safe working environment

*

Manage contractor and supplier safety assessments and maintain approved performance records

*

Represent the company in internal and external audits, including ISO assessments

*

Support project teams as Construction Manager when needed for brief periods

*

Produce safety committee documentation and lead health & safety meetings

*

Manage H&S reporting platforms and maintain accurate filing systems

*

Promote client engagement and align internal safety initiatives with client expectations

About You

*

Minimum 10 years of experience in a construction-based health and safety role

*

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate at all levels

*

In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations, UK safety legislation, and industry best practices

*

Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to internal and external stakeholders

*

Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel nationally

*

Proficiency in MS Office and online safety platforms (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud)

*

A collaborative, conscientious, and solutions-focused mindset

*

Recognised health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)
