About the role

The Fleming Initiative is a new partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Its aim is to protect global populations from the threat of antimicrobial resistance through an innovative approach combining research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions that work to protect the health security of local populations around the world.

This role will lead the Behavioural Science workstream within the Fleming Initiative, also providing behavioural science support across the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London.

What you would be doing

As the Behavioural Science Lead at the Fleming Initiative, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of three workstreams, supporting more junior researchers and the project teams. You will also work with the wider Fleming Initiative multidisciplinary team, providing behavioural science and public engagement support across a range of projects and activities.

The first workstream is in partnership with the Behavioural Insights Team, designing behaviourally informed interventions that aim to improve antimicrobial stewardship by the public. The second is in partnership with YouTube Health, supervising a PhD candidate to understand the impact of online video content on antimicrobial stewardship. The third workstream is to lead a multidisciplinary team working on the co-design of an educational initiative for school-aged students, over-seeing the co-design phase and production of the intervention, and plans for academic evaluation.

Public engagement and co-design methodology is at the heart of all the behavioural science work at the Fleming Initiative, and you will be responsible for ensuring this is maintained and delivered.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with post-doctoral experience in applied behavioural science, ideally with experience of intervention design, behavioural science experiments and public engagement. You must have experience of having conducted qualitative and mixed methods research and have an understanding of the research environment. Experience in grant writing and having strategic oversight of a research program is essential.
