General Duties
Directly responsible for the leadership and development of staff for the following teams: Facilities and Process Maintenance, Critical Utilities, Process Engineering & Equipment Validation. Oversee acquisition, installation, operation, maintenance, disposition of building systems, and production equipment. Manage the finances of the engineering function, analyse financial information, prepare, and manage operating and capital budgets, and monitors revenues and expenditures to contain costs. Develop and implement capital activities. Identify areas for engineering and financial improvement and enable their inception while maintaining an appropriate level of availability and reliability of equipment (Asset Life Cycle Management). Responsible for the successful implementation of highly technical or involved engineering projects in the creation and development of automatic, semi-automatic and manually controlled production machines, and auxiliary equipment Prioritise engineering projects and assignments for completion by the appropriate engineering teams. Develop strategy and lead the implementation of systems and processes that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation. Charter, track metrics for, and lead continuous improvement efforts and Reliability-Centered-Maintenance / Equipment Reliability aspects. Direct investigations into equipment failures and implement changes to avoid future occurrences. Manage, coordinate, and control all aspects of engineering in order to meet agreed departmental objectives. Develop and implement procedures and practices to meet safety, regulatory, and financial requirements and maintain compliance. Ensure the safe and effective introduction of new equipment, capital expenditure and process improvement technologies. Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), safety policies. Support new product introductions, technology transfers, continually monitor and improve process engineering operations across the site. Develop and maintain Engineering Systems, Processes, and Tools through continuous improvement. Ensure Quality Systems and metrics are in control within the Engineering Department.
Essential Criteria & Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered. Minimum 10 years’ experience preferred in either pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical manufacturing, or other highly regulated environment. Experience with plant systems typically found in pharmaceutical GMP production, including clean steam, Water for Injection, autoclaves etc. Experience of budgeting, capital investment and expenditure Experience GMP, Quality System Regulation, and ISO Requirements Experience with Six Sigma Experience in Project Management Management experience including leading an engineering or maintenance team Excellent leadership skills and a track record of developing direct reports Strong communication skills
