  • Circuit design and analysis: Design and develop electronic circuits and systems, including analogue, digital and signal processing circuits. Conduct circuit simulations and analysis using software tools to ensure proper functionality and performance prior to manufacture.
  • PCB design and layout: Create PCB layouts and design multilayer boards using software tools. Ensure proper component placement, signal integrity, and adherence to design guidelines, industry standards and statutory requirements.
  • Create wiring diagrams and layout for instrument electronics.
  • Provide BOMs with all PCB designs incorporating widely available processors and components, along with at least one alternative, and two where available.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronic systems into larger products or systems.
  • Prototyping and testing: Assemble electronic prototypes, perform functional testing, and verify performance against design specifications. Troubleshoot issues and suggest design improvements as necessary.
  • Making functional test fixtures for the PCB’s.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to develop firmware or embedded software for microcontrollers and other programmable devices.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for electronic systems. Perform various tests, including electrical, functional, environmental, and reliability tests, to ensure compliance with specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Present those test results to other stakeholders, some of whom may not be technically fluent.
  • Documentation and reporting: Create technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, test reports, and production guidelines. Maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and project progress.
  • Work with the R&D team to further technical innovation and excellence in products.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to electronic systems and firmware.
  • Familiar with PLM/PDM.
  • Quality assurance and compliance: Ensure that electronic systems and components meet quality standards, safety regulations, and relevant certifications. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure electronic designs meet the requirements of the EMC Directive and the EHSR of the Low Voltage Directive, create technical files and documentation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in electronics and firmware systems, including hardware design, software development, and embedded systems. Familiar with various programming languages, microcontrollers, and hardware components.
  • STM32 based microcontroller, embedded C/C++ using IAR IDE.
  • C++, Python, MATLAB, Arduino.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience working with Raspberry Pi.
  • Development and design of electronic circuit boards containing digital and analogue components. A typical design involves digital module, analogue module for measurement and sensing of various sensors used in the system, DC-DC converters, motor drivers, AD-converters.
  • Participate in the entire process of releasing new products, maintaining the existing portfolio up-to-date, and addressing end-of-life (EOL) situations by updating instruments while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Debug, trouble shoot and repair on a PCBA level using tools such as oscilloscope, signal generator etc. Including soldering equipment both for SMD/THD components
  • Good communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and patterns. Able to use data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
