Overview

Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry starting in the Fall 2025 academic term.

General Purpose:Teach undergraduate courses in (bio)inorganic, (bio)physical, and general chemistry (labs and lectures).

Responsibilities

  • Teach lectures and advanced labs in (bio)inorganic, (bio)physical, or (bio)analytical chemistry.
  • Teach General Chemistry lectures and labs for majors and non-majors.
  • Develop lecture materials, homework assignments, and exams; grade student work; assign final grades; supervise laboratory components and TAs.
  • Coordinate chemical preparation and laboratory equipment use with the Instrumental Manager, Chemistry Stockroom Manager, and the Director of First Year Chemistry.

Qualifications

  • Minimal Qualifications:PhD in Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent; familiarity with Chemistry laboratories; experience with organic chemistry lectures and labs; previous experience in teaching university-level general and organic chemistry.

Essential Skills

Candidates must be familiar with chemical instruction required in engineering and chemical sciences, including both lecture and laboratory instruction. Must have excellent communication skills and teaching experience.
