Trust Grade Doctor ST3+ HIV/Sexual Health The post is based at the Jefferiss Wing, St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. You will join a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Specialty Doctor and Associate Specialists, Specialist trainees, GP trainees, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacists who work in Sexual Health and HIV. Duties will vary over time but you will be expected to participate predominantly in HIV and Sexual Health outpatient services; providing both scheduled care for patients with appointments and unscheduled care for more urgent presentations.
This job would suit someone considering further training in HIV, Genitourinary medicine, Infectious Diseases, General Medical specialties or Gynaecology/CSRH. MRCP is desirable.
The rota is currently a full time fixed term post working Monday to Friday. The post is compliant with the new junior doctor contract. Banding will be paid due to evening clinics on weekdays.
Main duties of the job Duties will vary over time but you will be expected to participate predominantly in HIV emergency clinics and Sexual Health outpatient clinics. This job would suit someone considering further training in HIV, Genitourinary medicine, Infectious Diseases, General Medical specialties or Gynaecology/CSRH. MRCP is desirable.
The successful candidate is expected to perform all administrative duties appropriate to the post and when required, within the time limits specified by the Trust. Full participation in clinical audit and weekly clinical educational meetings is mandatory.
Every Wednesday morning we have a (virtual) in-house programme of academic meetings including talks by external speakers, journal club, audit presentations etc. which you will be expected to attend. The Trust has a weekly (virtual) lunchtime grand round meeting.
You will be assigned an educational supervisor for the duration of the post and encouraged to participate in on-going clinical research and audit projects in the department

Job responsibilities POST: Trust Grade Doctor in HIV/ sexual health
The successful candidate will work as an ST3+ doctor in a busy and dynamic HIV and sexual health service. Duties will include predominantly in HIV unscheduled /emergency clinics and a mixture of booked and walk in Sexual Health outpatient clinics.
Person Specification MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment with a license to practice
Successful completion of MRCP (UK) or equivalent at time of application
MD, PhD
Academic achievements including research/publications Research Skills: Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management & evidence-based practice.
Understanding of basic research principles, methodology & ethics, with potential to contribute to research
Evidence of relevant academic & research achievements, e.g. degrees, prizes, awards, distinctions, publications, presentations, other achievements
Language Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
Clinical expertise in Specialty/sub specialty Experience of Genitourinary MedicinEvidence of achievement of ST1 & ST2 competencies relevant to GIM and GUM/HIV
HIV/GUM experience
IT Skills and computer literacy
Evidence of achievement of ST3 competencies relevant to GIM and GUM/HIV/SRH
Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
Knowledge of finance/budgets
Management of staff
Teaching and training Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
Audit Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Evidence of active participation in audit
Knowledge/skills Is up to date and fit to practice safely
Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice including: oGood clinical care oMaintaining good medical practice oGood relationships and communication with patients oGood working relationships with colleagues oGood teaching and training oProfessional behaviour and probity oDelivery of good acute clinical care
Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
