You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary from £30,300 with benefits, subject to skills and experience.

The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. 

The Student Programmes Coordinator role:

The Francis Crick Institute’s Academic Training Team (ATT) forms part of the Crick’s People (Human Resources, HR) Directorate. The team is responsible for the management, development and operation of the Crick’s early career researcher training programmes, including the PhD, undergraduate student, and clinical fellow training programmes. It also oversees the appointment of visiting undergraduate, Masters and PhD students and clinical fellows who are hosted in Crick laboratories for limited periods of time. The Institute has approximately 200 PhD students across 4 years of study, up to 40 doctoral and postdoctoral clinical fellows, up to 10 sandwich students spending 1 year at the Crick and up to 20 summer students during July and August each year.

An opportunity has arisen for a well-organised professional to join and support the operation of the student sub-team within the ATT. As a Student Programme Coordinator, you will report to the PhD Student Support and Development Lead, working alongside other members of the student team. You will be a key point of contact for students, supervisors and other Crick staff, escalating issues to other members of the ATT where necessary. You will provide an efficient proactive administrative service, supporting the day-to-day delivery of the PhD student programme, working closely with the wider ATT and the People Hub Team.

As an Student Programmes Coordinator at the Crick, you will: 

Develop and maintain a good understanding of Workday (our online employee resource platform) for the purposes of your daily role.

Administer student records on Workday; such as supporting the onboarding and induction of visiting students, and the extension and leaver processes for Crick PhD programme students and clinical fellows.

Perform learning administration tasks on Workday, including setting up course offerings, logging and monitoring student attendance at training.

Administer the student programme through engagement monitoring, tracking and chasing completion of progress milestones and training

Support student administration with the Crick’s university partners

Clerk the meetings of the Research Degrees Committee

As our Student Programmes Coordinator, you will bring:

The ability to multitask and deal with a busy workload effectively.

Good attention to detail.

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work with a diverse range of people, including those for whom English is not the first language.

A proactive approach, with the ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of university programmes of study.
