Solutions Manager - Laboratory Operations

About us
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose, and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases, and neurodegenerative conditions.

The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation, and exploration across many disciplines. It is a space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment that fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions, and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
About the role
The Service Delivery team covers critical operational areas of the Crick, including management of shared equipment, delivery and stocking of consumables logistics, management of lab space, and comprehensive administrative support for travel, expenses, scientific seminars, and onboarding/offboarding of visitors and collaborators.

You will work in a matrix management structure to investigate strategic and operational challenges, analyze issues and dependencies, and propose and execute plans for solutions that improve ways of working across the Institute.

This role emphasizes project management and business analysis, requiring you to build networks across the organization, lead the development and implementation of new processes, and guide teams to adopt these processes. Collaboration with teams such as IT and HR is essential.
We seek someone experienced in business process notation, process mapping, and developing standard operating procedures. Strong problem-solving skills are critical to identify issues, implement solutions, and move forward confidently.

If you have experience as a business analyst or project manager in a similar field and are eager to learn and face new challenges, this role offers an opportunity to make an impact at The Crick.
What you will be doing
Assist with scoping and prioritization of projects addressing key challenges, aligned with strategic objectives.
Analyze cross-cutting challenges and collaborate with colleagues at all levels to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Organize, chair, and document meetings and workshops to explore and understand issues.
Synthesize solutions in a matrix management environment, working with leaders across departments.
Manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication, influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
About you
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in business analysis and project management, preferably in scientific, clinical, or healthcare research settings.
Strong networking and communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
Experience in analyzing business systems and processes, capturing requirements, and mapping workflows.
Experience conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
Ability to communicate complex problems and technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
