About the Team :
The Senior Lead, Strategy & Transformation (S&T) is responsible for leading high-impact consulting engagements that drive transformative change and deliver measurable value for Medidata customers. This role ensures an exceptional experience for both internal and external stakeholders by combining deep domain expertise, consulting best practices, and the strategic application of Medidata’s technology.
Acting as an integrator between business objectives and platform-driven solutions, the Senior Lead S&T takes ownership of complex, cross-functional challenges—applying structured thinking and creative problem-solving to design, re-engineer, and optimize critical processes.
The Senior Lead’s primary responsibility is to lead the successful delivery of strategic consulting engagements, guiding clients through the adoption of Medidata’s solutions while embedding scalable practices, governance models, and value-based transformation strategies.
Responsibilities :
Collaborate with Commercial and Strategy teams to shape client-specific solution proposals and statements of work (SoWs)
Translate client challenges into structured consulting approaches during pre-sales and discovery phases
Identify and position relevant consulting offerings aligned to digital transformation goals
Contribute to reusable proposal assets and pre-sales templates to accelerate future opportunities
Lead and deliver both paid projects and strategic investment consulting engagements from initiation through completion
Structure and solve complex operational challenges using qualitative and quantitative techniques
Develop current state diagnostics, process maps, KPI models, and value-based future state recommendations
Manage multiple workstreams, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure delivery meets or exceeds client expectations
Apply creative and critical thinking to develop structured, human-centered outcomes that align to the client's business and technical needs
Drive adoption of Medidata technology through complementary processes, governance models, and change mechanisms
Serve as a strategic advisor to client stakeholders, cultivating long-term, trusted relationships
Lead stakeholder workshops, alignment sessions, and executive presentations to facilitate buy-in and shared vision
Promote alignment across cross-functional stakeholders by managing expectations, timelines, and measurable success criteria
Ensure the client experience throughout the engagement is professional, value-driven, and collaborative
Maintain referenceable relationships and positive customer outcomes across the project lifecycle
Develop reusable consulting assets, accelerators, and methodologies to drive internal scalability and delivery excellence
Identify industry trends and best practices that can be embedded into Medidata's consulting approach
Lead or contribute to the design of new service offerings that support digital transformation and advanced operating models
Operate effectively in undefined or evolving environments, transforming abstract ideas into tangible results
Continuously seek to improve internal tools, processes, and capabilities through feedback and cross-team collaboration
Qualifications :
Advanced facilitation, communication, and storytelling skills, with an ability to influence across levels
Expert problem-solving and analytical abilities with comfort working in ambiguity and across technical and business contexts
Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Excel); familiarity with Google Suite a plus
Comfortable managing multiple high-complexity workstreams simultaneously
Technically fluent and able to understand complex platform and system architectures
Strong project management skills with a structured approach to delivery
Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience , including direct management of complex consulting engagements
Proven track record in life sciences consulting, clinical research operations, or digital transformation
Deep understanding of clinical development, data management, and analytics workflows
Expertise in continuous improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
Previous experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
Prior consulting experience and customer-facing project leadership required
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred
Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to execution
Highly motivated, proactive, and able to lead others through influence rather than authority
Passionate about healthcare innovation and transforming complex systems to deliver better outcomes
Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and brings structure to ambiguity
Collaborative team player who values coaching, shared success, and continuous improvement
Willingness to travel up to 25% for client-facing delivery
Master's degree in related field
• PMP Certification
• Organizational Change Management experience
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
