AsGroup Head of Cloud & Platforms, you will provide technical leadership and direction to a team of Engineers across the UK and India to drive the cloud transformation strategy with an Azure-first approach whilst modernising our core banking and payment platforms.

The role will report into the Technology Transformation Director and you will have the autonomy and ownership to drive cloud adoption withing OSB Group's technology transformation.

Please note, this role can be based from our London, Chatham or Wolverhampton office and has the benefit of operating within our hybrid-working policy. This role will require interaction across all relevant sites and some travel between UK and India offices will be required.

What you will be doing:

AsGroup Head of Cloud & Platforms, you will have a solid engineering and Azure cloud architecture background to drive the cloud transformation strategy, evolving cloud governance frameworks, optimising costs and ensuring regulatory compliance through agile deliver. As a dual function role, modernisation of core banking platforms, payment systems (UK focus), and customer-facing applications for Savings and Mortgages whilst maximising business value through cloud adoption is key.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Build and maintain key relationships, synthesize information from multiple sources, maintain business alignment in the Team Backlog and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Evolve and refine the existing Azure cloud target state using industry, customer and business insights to track the desired cloud transformation
  • Lead the modernisation strategy for core banking services, enabling phased migration between on-premises systems and Azure cloud environments
  • Provide technical direction and architectural oversight for core banking platform and payment systems including the design of resilient architectures for domestic UK payment journeys with appropriate redundancy
  • Ensure all cloud deployments meet security and compliance requirements for payment card processing and core banking functions
  • Establish engineering standards and practices that ensure security, scalability and reliability for mission-critical banking workloads across hybrid environments
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps practices and Site Reliability Engineering models for payment processing systems

  • Track record of leading banking technology transformations in retail banking systems such as savings and mortgages
  • Strong understanding of Cloud Security and Controls and the application of internationally recognised standards such as NIST SP-800-53, CSA CCM, ISO27001 is essential
  • Hands-on experience with core banking platforms, payment systems, and customer-facing applications
  • Strong knowledge of Azure functionality and working within Agile methodology
  • Excellent platform development and integration (bespoke and package) skills to enhance the customer journey
  • Strong capability in building and scaling distributed engineering teams and establishing engineering excellence practices
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to lead workshops and align cross-functional teams
