About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Senior HR Manager will manage the operational HR team, ensuring the delivery of efficient, effective, and high-quality HR services across the organization.
This team is responsible for the full 360-degree lifecycle management of our employees, including onboarding, payroll, reward and benefits, training and development, retention, engagement, wellbeing, and offboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Delivery Leadership: Manage and optimize the day-to-day operations of the HR team by leading weekly priority team meetings, conducting one-on-one sessions with team members, and tracking performance against team KPIs. This includes UK and International HR and payroll processes.
SAP SuccessFactors Implementation: Support the ongoing embedding and improvement of our core HRIS (SAP SuccessFactors, known internally as Aspire). This includes enhanced performance management processes and onboarding functionality as immediate aims.
Payroll & Operational Excellence: Monitor departmental KPIs to ensure the HR function meets or exceeds the agreed service level agreements (SLAs) with the business, including overseeing the timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll and related reporting.
HR Analytics & HRIS Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve HR analytics to drive informed business decision-making. Ensure the HRIS is consistently updated, maintained, and used optimally for both operational and strategic decision-making.
Salary management: Ensure that all compensation is effectively managed and processes are internally compliant.
Reward Management: Ensure that compensation and benefits are aligned by grade, reflect best practice, and are aligned to relevant markets.
Process Improvement: Develop HR processes fit for purpose and appropriate for Pharmanovia.
HR Policy: Ensure HR policies are relevant and compliant and communicated to the business.
HR Advisory: Provide tier 1 advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policy and process.
Key Projects:
Global Payroll Outsourcing Project: Lead the project (already 50% complete) to outsource key areas of payroll to an already selected global service provider, ensuring smooth transition and integration with current processes.
Employee Engagement Strategy: Support the delivery of the 2025 employee engagement agenda, driving initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
Organizational Design & Development: Manage the implementation of organizational changes, ensuring alignment with business needs and smooth transitions during structural adjustments.
Compensation & Benefits Strategy: Support the development and management of competitive reward and benefit structures, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives and contribute to talent retention and business success.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for continuous improvement, a keen eye for detail, a strong desire to identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies, and the ability to deepen the team's understanding of both HR practices and broader business needs.
Experience in managing operational HR teams, ideally in a global or high-growth environment.
Strong knowledge of UK HR operations, including payroll, employee relations, performance management, reward, and benefits.
Knowledge of international HR Operations.
Solid project management experience, with the ability to drive initiatives from concept to completion in a dynamic business environment.
A proactive, improvement-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.
Experience managing HR functions across multiple geographies with an understanding of international employment laws and HR practices.
Previous experience in a supervisory or management position, either as an HR business partner or as a HR manager from within a fast-paced, commercial setting.
Previous experience and/or exposure to the pharmaceutical or life science industries.
A CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification or equivalent level of experience.
A good understanding of UK employment law and best practice.
A good understanding of international employment law and best practice.
