AWN assists its clients (public and private) with a variety of environmental sector activities, such as Environmental Impact Assessments, EPA Licensing, water/waste-related compliance, air quality impact assessments, acoustics design, and process safety management under the Seveso III Directive/COMAH. AWN client sectors include semi-conductor manufacturing, data centres, chemical distribution, pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals, wind farms, large scale residential developments, and public infrastructure.


Position Overview


AWN is expanding its Climate and Air Quality Team and is currently seeking an experiencedSenior Climate Consultant. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team based in Dublin, collaborating on challenging and exciting projects spanning various sectors, including national infrastructure, data centres, large-scale residential developments (LDR), and commercial developments. The Climate and Air Quality Team includes environmental consultants, chemists, and environmental scientists. While the role is based in the Air Quality and Climate team, the focus of the role will be on climate and assisting in developing our climate assessments.


The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team having a focus on Climate to scope and deliver projects in line with client requirements. Candidates should have good people skills, be driven, and also work well in a team environment. A balance of technical, communication/written and field skills is sought to flexibly contribute to a variety of different projects.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


As a Senior Climate Consultant, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Carbon and/or Lifecycle assessments for projects
  • Climate change risk assessments for projects
  • Ensuring projects can show compliance with Section 15 of the Climate Act
  • Keeping up to date with climate assessment methodologies, guidance, policy and legal requirements
  • Coordinating climate assessments for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Reports.
  • Technical report writing including preparation of EIA stages 1-4
  • Providing leadership by overseeing, guiding, and managing junior team members and sub-consultants to meet project requirements effectively.
  • Communicating with clients, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and sub-contractors to ensure compliance with all project requirements.
  • Assisting in project and program management for large and complex projects, including post-planning approval assistance.
  • Preparation of and creating proposals to address client needs


Essential Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the environmental/climate sector.
  • Experience preparing greenhouse gas/lifecycle/carbon assessments using a variety of tools.
  • Experience preparing climate change risk or adaptation assessment.
  • Minimum BSc or BA (Hons) degree in environmental science or related discipline.
  • Understanding of PAS2080:2023, IEMA Assessing Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Evaluating their Significance (IEMA 2022); TII PE-ENV-01105, TII PE-ENV-01104, and EU Technical guidance on the climate proofing of infrastructure in the period 2021-2027.
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of working on their own initiative.
  • High attention to detail, excellent report writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and assemble various strands of complex data into clear, concise outputs.
  • Capacity to respond to tight timelines, reporting needs, and internal reporting structures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Preferred:


  • 5 Years Experience
  • Full Clean Driving Licence or Working towards would be beneficial
  • Membership/Chartership of a recognized Environmental Professional body such as IEMA etc.
