The Role

ALS Inspection are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support their Metals and Minerals Laboratory in Prescot, Knowsley.

Laboratory Technicians require a good mix of skills. The person will be responsible for ensuring procedures are followed to effectively and accurately test samples, and record results while maintaining ISO 17025 accreditations. The right candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be able to closely follow instructions. Do you have the skills required, if so, please read on!

Hours Per Week: 37

Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (06:00 – 14:00 & 13:30 – 21:30 on weekly rotational basis)

Contract: Full Time and Permanent

Salary: Attractive + shift allowance per annum

The day to day

Understanding of metals and minerals analysis in precious metals and or Base metals.
Carry out routine tasks accurately within QA guidelines
Routinely use standard laboratory equipment such as balances for sample weighing
Organise and plan daily work loads
Promote good awareness of Health and Safety regulations relating to Laboratory environment
To store samples in accordance with the systems in place

The Essentials

GCSEs achieved in English, Maths and Science.
Good organisational skills
Experience with Instrumentation, XRF, ICP , Auto fusion, Auto titration, Fire assay, desirable but not essential
Previous experience within a team focused environment is desirable
Previous laboratory experience is advantageous
Meticulous attention to detail
