About the role
The main purpose of this position is to provide technical support and research related activities to a vibrant and growing environmental DNA/ biomonitoring research group which uses lab and field approaches to understand human impacts on biodiversity. The role holder will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Research Fellows on this project. They will provide technical support by assisting with lab organisation, molecular genetics sample processing, field work, and analysing results.
This role is an open-ended contract with a funding end date of in the first instance, and we will consider applications to work on a part-time basis.

About you
You must have HND or degree qualification at Level 5 in Biology or other relevant subject or corresponding experience and proven knowledge of the environmental genetics/environmental DNA field. A degree in a relevant subject area would be desirable. You are a motivated, organized and dependable person who thrives in an interactive, friendly research team.
You must have significant experience of fieldwork and molecular genetics techniques for environmental samples such as DNA extraction and library preparation. Experience with qPCR assays and troubleshooting lab protocols is desirable. Experience of working in a research technician role would be preferable.
