The opportunity

An opportunity has arisen to join a growing Regulatory Affairs function supporting global Digital Asset regulatory change management, managing applications for new regulatory authorisations in assigned jurisdictions and ensuring the oversight & timely submission of regulatory reports.

The role will encompass the tracking & analysis of regulatory changes arising in the UK, the EU and other jurisdictions as identified, including potentially the Middle East & Asian jurisdictions, affecting Digital Asset businesses. The successful candidate will also provide assistance to the business in:

  • The development of appropriate controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • The preparation of authorisation application submissions; &
  • Clearly articulating regulatory reporting requirements & ensuring their timely submission.

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyze & report on upcoming regulatory changes applicable to Uphold's business activities, in particular MiCAR & associated EU Supervisory Authority guidance & standards;
  • Maintain a library of pending & in progress regulatory changes & produce regular Management Information;
  • Work closely with the leadership team and external stakeholders to obtain necessary information needed for licensing purposes.
  • Ensure that obligations arising from reporting requirements, for each in scope entity are clearly documented & communicated to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance;
  • Liaise with other internal departments including Accounting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and Support to fulfill regulatory obligations.
  • Ensure all company information is up to date internally and externally in a rapidly and consistently evolving company and regulatory environment.
  • Ensure all licensing maintenance and renewal procedures are followed on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in preparations for routine in-depth examinations by regulators.
  • Appropriately gather and process extremely sensitive documents and information of the company and key investors, directors and officers.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities and numerous ongoing projects simultaneously and on schedule without sacrificing accuracy or attention to detail.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in this role or directly relevant field.
  • Experience dealing with financial regulators or working in financial regulation required.
  • Experience of Banking and/or Securities regulation preferred.
  • Previous experience of regulatory change management is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with cryptocurrency/fintech is desirable but not essential.
  • Relevant industry certifications beneficial.
  • Must be highly organized, a self-starter, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Has a positive outlook on life and projects a happy disposition.

Bonus if you have:

  • Existing knowledge of EU Financial regulation, in particular MiFID, EMIR
  • Existing knowledge of Electronic Money Institution regulatory requirements
