Job summary
The Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit at Queens Hospital Burton is a MHRA licensed facility which makes a range of products on its busy productionlines generating sales of over £ per year for the Trust.
The Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit now seeks a suitably qualified Quality Control Laboratory Manager to lead the Quality Control Team in the scheduling and testing of raw materials and finished products in line with GMP/GLP principles and the departments own operating guidelines.
Main duties of the job
Develop and manage Pharmacy QC laboratory services and policies. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, national and local guidance.
Provide technical supervision, training and manual support to technical staff in the testing of raw materials, packaging components, pharmaceutical specials, product licensed items and items under development and the associated environments in which they are made.
Confirm that quality control operations are performed in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice, Good Manufacturing Practice, Marketing Authorisations and Licences held. Thus assuring that the manufactured medicinal products are fit for their intended use, comply with the requirement of the marketing authorisation and do not place patients at risk in inadequate safety, quality or efficacy.

BTEC, NVQ 3 or City & Guilds in Pharmaceutical Science and Higher BTEC or HNC in Pharmaceutical Science or Chemistry (or Pharmaceutical Sciences / Chemistry degree) Formal cGxP training or equivalent experience
Desirable
PTQA MSc. / STP Pharmaceutical Sciences or related post graduate qualification Member of a relevant professional body ( GPhC, RSC, RSB)
Experience
Essential
Substantial experience in a leadership role in a Quality Control laboratory supporting GMP production of a wide range of products Experience and technical expertise in a variety of QC Laboratory equipment and analysis techniques HPLC IR/UV Spectrophotometers and LAL tests. Keyboard skills utilising computer software eg Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint
Desirable
Substantial experience in a quality control laboratory performing a wide range of chemistry testing ( HPLC, FT-IR, UV/Vis)
