Job Description: Pharmacy Dispenser

Location:Knaresborough
Hours:Full-time (Monday Friday, 09:00 17:00)
Salary:£13 per hour
Reports to:Pharmacy Lead

With a strong focus on care home medication management and electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) systems, they deliver safe, accurate, and efficient prescription services.

They are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedPharmacy Dispenserwho is passionate about enhancing patient care through technology and thrives in a growing business environment.

About the Role

This position is ideal for aQualified Pharmacy Dispenserwith experience in care home services, eMAR systems, and MAR charts. The role involves ensuring the accurate dispensing of medications while upholding high regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will also work with advanced pharmacy systems to support efficient dispensing and compliance, including:

Pharmacy Dispensing Systems:EMIS / Proscript

eMAR Systems:Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, Medihub eMAR

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Dispensing & Accuracy

Accurately dispense and label prescription medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.

Ensure all prescriptions comply with legal, ethical, and procedural requirements.

Handle controlled drugs and special-order medicines in accordance with strict regulatory guidelines.

Assist in managing repeat prescriptions and batch dispensing for care homes.

Care Home & eMAR System Support

Collaborate with care home teams to manage MAR charts and eMAR systems, ensuring medication records are accurate and compliant.

Provide training and support to care home staff on usingAccess eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMARfor medication administration.

Implement best practices for medication safety within care homes.

Stock & Inventory Management

Assist in ordering, receiving, and recording stock levels to maintain an efficient dispensing workflow.

Monitor expiry dates, storage conditions, and controlled drug documentation to ensure compliance.

Align stock management with eMAR systems and care home medication schedules.

Patient & Customer Support

Provide advice and guidance on medication-related queries via phone, email, and digital platforms.

Assist with care home medication audits and compliance checks.

Maintain a professional and supportive approach when liaising with care homes, nurses, and healthcare professionals.

Regulatory Compliance & Record-Keeping

Ensure full compliance withGeneral Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) regulations.

Maintain accurate patient medication records, prescriptions, and dispensing documentation.

UpholdGDPR complianceand patient confidentiality.

Assist with pharmacy audits and inspections, ensuring adherence toNHS and GPhCstandards.

Pharmacy Systems & Technology

UseEMIS / Proscriptfor prescription processing and stock management.

OperateAccess eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMARto facilitate seamless communication with care homes.

Contribute to process improvements by implementing new pharmacy technology solutions.

What Were Looking For

Essential:

Pharmacy Dispenser QualificationNVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent).

Experience in Care Home Medication ManagementFamiliarity with MAR charts, eMAR systems, and batch dispensing.

Strong IT SkillsConfident in usingEMIS / Proscript, Access eMAR, Atlas eMAR, and Medihub eMAR.

Excellent Communication SkillsAble to liaise effectively with care homes, nurses, and healthcare professionals.

Attention to DetailCapable of handling prescriptions and stock management with accuracy.

Highly Organised & ProactiveAble to prioritise tasks, manage workloads efficiently, and maintain compliance standards.

Desirable:

Previous experience in adistance-selling pharmacy.

Experience withNHS prescription servicesand online prescription management.

Knowledge ofe-commerce and logistics systemsfor medication delivery.

Additionalhealthcare-related qualifications.
