Recruitment Pro is proud to be partnering with a leading pharmaceutical organisation based in Banbury in the search for a Head of Operations. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the full operational lifecycle of the facility, from logistics and warehousing through to customer service.
You’ll be instrumental in ensuring efficient, timely, and compliant distribution of pharmaceutical products, while also driving exceptional customer experience in line with company ethics and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute a strategic logistics and customer service plan that aligns with the company’s operational goals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of logistics functions, including warehousing, inventory management, order fulfilment, and courier partnerships.
  • Implement and manage all health and safety protocols in line with regulatory and advisory guidance.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement across supply chain, logistics, and customer service departments.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as PCA50, call metrics (e.g. average call length, answer time), customer satisfaction, and refund values.
  • Ensure full compliance with GDP, GPhC guidelines, and all applicable pharmaceutical distribution regulations.
  • Develop robust working relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and courier services, optimising service levels and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team during a period of high organisational growth.
  • Work cross-functionally with finance, IT, and procurement to support seamless operations.
  • Oversee budget planning, forecasting, and cost control across the department.
  • Take a hands-on approach to risk management, contingency planning, and regulatory compliance.
    Person Specification
    Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven leadership experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics within a fast-paced, highly regulated environment – ideally pharmaceutical, healthcare, or e-commerce.
  • Strong background in managing both logistics and customer service functions, including third-party providers.
  • Deep understanding of distribution networks, courier operations, and end-to-end supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of AI tools used in customer service.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and customer service platforms.
  • Skilled in performance monitoring, with a sharp eye for detail and operational excellence.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including supplier negotiations and budget management.
  • Confident in leading employee relations processes (e.g. disciplinaries, grievances) and in coaching managers on these areas.
    Desirable:
  • Previous experience in e-commerce logistics.
  • Project management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma).
  • An interest or background in implementing sustainability within operational processes
