Job overview:

As a key member of the site Food Safety team, you will perform and monitor food safety-related microbiological tests, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements. You will identify trends and opportunities for improvement and recommend preventative and corrective actions.

Job Title: Microbiologist

Job Type: Contract - 3 to 6 months (Full-Time)

Potential to becoming permanent

Pay Rate: £26.27/hour

Location: East Kilbride (G74 5DJ)

Shift Pattern: 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm (Mon-Thurs), 6am-1pm and 1pm-8pm (Fri)

Working Hours: 39 hours/week

Skills & Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Microbiology
Experience in practical microbiological testing on food products
Excellent communication skills
Methodical and organized approach
Good understanding of statistical process control and problem-solving

Your responsibilities will include:

Work with operational teams to improve quality performance and compliance.
Conduct micro testing on products, cleaning effectiveness, and air quality.
Review Food Safety performance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
Support the launch of new products through microbiological checks.
Conduct microbiological analysis for complaint investigations.
Co-ordinate and support site validation activities.
Provide microbiological reports and monitor performance.
Review testing data to identify adverse trends.
Manage and maintain microbiology testing equipment and facilities.
Improve laboratory efficiency through new technologies.
Provide basic microbiological training to other roles.
Perform internal audits, GMP, hygiene audits, and compliance checks.
Develop the microbiology lab to aid internal speciation.
Support the Production Quality Assurance lab (training provided)
