Job Description

AsMedical Director, you will consult with Planning, Account, and Creative teams to develop compelling medical strategy and medical content for both digital and print media. You will identify new medical advances and opportunities, utilizing disease state knowledge to drive promotional efforts. Your role involves analyzing clinical data, conducting literature searches, attending medical conferences, and performing competitive analyses.

Additionally, you will engage and inform colleagues, healthcare professionals, and clients, including those in medical, legal, and regulatory groups. Collaborating on the development of medical points of view (POVs) and recommendations with clients is also a key responsibility.

Ultimately, you will ensure that medical communications and promotional materials meet and exceed the objectives of the client team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide the creation of clinically cogent and engaging promotional and KOL materials while ensuring effective use of clinical data to reach strategic brand objectives
  • Assist with medical strategy in pitches and proposals for the development of new business
  • Consult on the medical content of expert speaker communications, KOL engagements, advisory boards, etc.
  • Improve medical literacy across contributing agency teams; provide medical understanding on disease states, clinical trials, treatments and competition
  • Guide submissions for client medical/regulatory approval processes and help to incorporate client and regulatory feedback.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • A passion for science, medicine and innovation, with a proven track record of communicating medical advances to different audiences
  • Ability to lead and execute development of medical strategy and medical content, including data analysis for a wide range of complex projects with minimal review/direction
  • Ability to independently and accurately incorporate strategic concepts into projects, as well as the capability to guide others to do so
  • Understanding of clinical practice, with the ability to perform scientific literature searches; can interpret complex clinical data into compelling stories (copy)
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills; insightful data analysis and accomplished presentation abilities, as well as the drive to build client and team relationships
  • Native/ fluent English (or any relevant language for roles fully dedicated to specific local markets) a must, additional languages welcome
  • Insightful with a problem-solving, solution-oriented mindset; comfortable with leading client interactions and defending work and opinions
  • Familiarity with European marketing regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree (MSci, PhD, MD or PharmD) in medical sciences related field required
  • At least 4/5 years of experience in an agency or pharmaceutical industry supporting scientific communications, medical affairs or medical education
