Mechanical Technician Equipment Assembly & Commissioning
A well-established engineering firm based in Essex is seeking a mechanical technician to join their production and commissioning team. Operating from a purpose-built design and manufacturing facility, the company specialises in high-specification filling and packaging lines for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to a mechanically minded engineer with strong assembly, fault-finding, and pneumatic skills, ideally with experience supporting equipment installation at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out precision mechanical fitting and assembly on the factory floor
Conduct machinery testing and trial runs during build and pre-shipment stages
Build, test, and troubleshoot pneumatic logic circuits and piping
Prepare equipment for dispatch, install and commission machinery on customer sites
Work collaboratively with internal departments and contribute to ongoing process improvements
Interpret mechanical assembly drawings and adhere to required specifications and tolerances
Essential Requirements
Solid foundation in mechanical engineering and assembly techniques
Experience in reading and working from engineering and assembly drawings
Hands-on experience with machining or workshop-based fabrication
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and accuracy
Problem-solving approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Recognised engineering certification or apprenticeship
Willingness to travel internationally to support installations and commissioning work
Awareness of health and safety best practice in workshop and site settings
