Job Title: Laboratory Manager

Salary:From £30,000 pa DOE 

Job Type: 14 Months Fixed Term

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm ( hours per week) 

Job Location: Hebden Bridge

Reporting to the General Manager this is a laboratory-based role with the individual taking responsibility for the co-ordination of laboratory resources and staff to produce accurate and standard analyses according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) on a timescale maintaining customer satisfaction in the Company’s operations.

Key Accountabilities

The main purpose of the role is to manage overall laboratory operations and be responsible for the effective and successful management of staff and processes to ensure productivity is maximized You will be responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team which can manage the workload appropriately Implement and manage continuous improvements by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in working practices processes. You will coordinate the training required to achieve these changes Competency to perform, and train staff, Manage the laboratory-staff training program and manage staff shift rotas to ensure the required trained staff are available across all shifts to enable testing to be completed Alongside the general manager - organise the recruitment, selection and interviewing of laboratory-based/technical personnel Perform staff 1:1, sickness reviews, appraisals and other operational HR requirements in line with group procedures Document and submit payroll information Completion of monthly operational reports as require

Qualifications

Minimum of Degree level qualification in chemistry or equivalent experience. Managerial experience in a Laboratory setting Experience working within Quality Management System structures and 17025 accreditation Food Industry experience Knowledge of ELISA and PCR
