We’re looking for an operational manager to take on a key leadership role for our team managing the stock control, validation, and dispatch of blood and blood components to hospitals and NHSBT sites in our service area.
Job Summary
In this role you will be responsible for the overall management, stock control and dispatch of blood and components to hospital and NHSBT sites in the area served by the Centre. Your duties will include:-
Ensuring that all units are validated in a controlled manner and within a time frame to maximise stock availability.
Ensuring policy, practice and service development is in line with national strategy
Management and development of Hospital Services (HS) staff, including recruitment, appraisal and performance. Departmental Budget Holder.
Working as an integral member to the Regional and National Hospital Services Team.
Collaborating with other HS Managers and from time to time the Strategic Team to develop and support strategies
Responsibility for cross directorate liaison/working with regards to HS.
Acting as Duty Hospital Services Manager for site and deputising for Regional HS Manager
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
You will be required to participate in an on-call out of hours rota, which will include evenings, weekend or public holiday working
About You
Experience and Knowledge
Leadership and management experience working within NHSBT or a pharmaceutical environment
Experience of handling employee grievances, conflicts and disciplinaries
Thorough understanding of working to the rules of Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Laboratory Practice and Total Quality Management
Understanding of policies, standards and guidelines
Experience and participation in validation and development projects
Experience of audit process and requirements
Qualifications and Training
FIBMS/Masters

OR

equivalent experience (see Experience and Knowledge) and a willingness to undertake study to achieve Masters’ level qualification
