We're looking for a Head of Manufacturing to lead our awesome team.

As Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for technical leadership of Hoxton Farms' bioprocessing programme, including bioreactor design, process development and large-scale production.

Reporting to the CEO, you will use your deep technical expertise to supervise development of large-scale operations, plan project roadmaps and define the long-term strategic direction of our bioprocess R&D and production. At every step, you'll coordinate with our upstream R&D and food programmes to produce high quality cultivated fat at pilot scale and meet our technical milestones before series B and beyond.

Hoxton Farms is growing quickly as we scale up our pilot manufacturing facility in London and build plans for large-scale manufacturing in the UK and overseas. This is an opportunity to lead a talented, enthusiastic and diverse team while playing a huge role in shaping the future of the biomanufacturing industry.

You should be a highly experienced leader with a proven track record of hiring scientists, managing projects and developing strategy in a commercial setting.

The role is based full-time in person at our HQ in London. We are willing to support international relocation.

About Hoxton Farms:

Hoxton Farms grow cultivated pork fat, a healthy and delicious ingredient for the food industry. Cofounded in 2020 by Max Jamilly and Ed Steele, we are building the world's most scalable and cost-effective tech stack for mammalian cell biomanufacturing - and we're monetising it with a premium B2B ingredient. Hoxton Farms are a team of ~50 based in London. We have raised from investors including Founders Fund, Collab Fund, FSV/F-Prime and Global Brain.

  • Healthy fats:B2B cultivated fat is fast to market and will dominate a premium niche. Compared to traditional fat, cultivated pork fat is healthier and more scalable. Hoxton Farms have commercial traction with meat/CPG companies including some of the largest food companies in Asia.
  • Cost and scale:Hoxton Farms have patented scalable, low-cost, high-yield bioreactors for mammalian stem cells. We opened a pilot production facility in London in 2023.
  • Team:Hoxton Farms have a brilliant and friendly team including world-class talent from the cultivated meat, biotech and engineering industries - all under one roof in central London.

You should have:

  • 8+ years' industry experience in bioprocessing
  • deep technical expertise in bioprocess scale-up to commercial production quantities
  • experience developing novel operations at large scale
  • familiarity working in regulated environments
  • familiarity with building and running a manufacturing plant
  • experience building and leading a team, managing a multidisciplinary technical roadmap and setting long-term cross-functional R&D strategy
  • strong communication skills and the ability to present complex technical information to diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • a willingness to learn from domain experts at Hoxton Farms
  • a bold mindset, ready to innovate and challenge industry standards in the design process
  • startup experience (series A or later)

Ideally you'll have experience in some, but not necessarily all, of the following areas:

  • mammalian cell culture or precision fermentation
  • technoeconomic analysis
  • regulation for bioprocessing or food production
