Taking full accountability for brand, demand generation, content, thought leadership, digital and events
Managing the global marketing budget and allocating spend based on impact and return
Working closely with Business Development and Inside Sales to shape messaging, campaigns, and go-to-market priorities

Championing voice-of-customer insight to ensure campaigns reflect real buyer needs
Elevating the brand through credible storytelling, customer success, and thought leadership
Leading the annual events and conference strategy
Providing sales enablement that genuinely supports commercial conversations
Setting KPIs tied to revenue, pipeline velocity, and customer growth
Using data to optimise performance and guide investment decisions
Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing global marketing team
Partnering with Legal and Compliance to ensure all activity meets regulatory and data protection standardsWhat they’re looking for
Significant B2B marketing leadership experience (typically 10+ years)
Background in SaaS, digital health, e-clinical, clinical trial services, or similar science-led environments
Proven track record of building marketing strategies that drive pipeline, deal velocity, and growth
Strong experience across brand, demand, content, automation, and customer engagement, with good judgement on where to focus
Confident translating complex or scientific concepts into clear, compelling narratives
Experience managing budgets and demonstrating ROI through data and reporting
Hands-on experience with tools such as HubSpot (or similar), LinkedIn Campaign Manager, analytics and attribution
Strong people leadership skills, with experience building collaborative, accountable teams
Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and operating at leadership level
Most importantly, they’re looking for someone commercially sharp, curious, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, science-led environment where trust and credibility matter.

What’s in it for you
A senior leadership role with genuine influence over commercial direction
Work that directly contributes to improving global health outcomes
Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite just outside Cambridge, with flexibility beyond that
26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, including a Christmas shutdown, with buy/sell options
Competitive pension with strong employer contribution
Life assurance
Private healthcare and cashback schemes
Employee Assistance ProgrammeThis is a role for someone who wants ownership, challenge, and the chance to build something meaningful rather than just maintain what’s already there

How Many Biotechnology Tools Do You Need to Know to Get a Biotech Job?

If you are trying to break into biotechnology or progress your career, it can feel like the list of tools you are expected to know is endless. One job advert asks for PCR, another mentions cell culture, another lists bioinformatics pipelines, automation platforms or GMP systems. LinkedIn makes it worse, with people sharing long skills lists that make you wonder if you are already behind. Here is the reality most biotech employers will not say out loud: they are not hiring you because you know every tool. They are hiring you because you understand biological systems, can work accurately and safely, follow protocols, interpret results and contribute reliably to a team. Tools matter, but only when they support those outcomes. So how many biotechnology tools do you actually need to know to get a job? The answer depends on the role you are targeting, but for most job seekers it is far fewer than you think. This article breaks down what employers really expect, which tools are essential, which are role-specific, and how to focus your learning so you look employable rather than overwhelmed.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Biotechnology Job Applications (UK Guide)

Hiring managers in biotechnology do not start by reading your CV word for word. They scan for credibility, relevance and risk. In a regulated, evidence-driven sector like biotech, the first question is simple: is this person safe, competent and genuinely capable of contributing in this environment? Whether you are applying for roles in research, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, clinical, bioinformatics or commercial biotech, the strongest applications make the right signals obvious in the first 10–20 seconds. This in-depth guide explains exactly what hiring managers in UK biotechnology look for first, how they assess CVs, cover letters and portfolios, and why capable candidates are often rejected. Use it as a practical checklist before you apply.
