Role purpose:

As a key member of the site leadership team, provides advice and council, and communicates critical EHS issues to site and corporate management. Develops and manages site EHS/S professionals.


Supports Corporate EHS/S strategy and objectives, contributes to development and implementation of global EHS programs and promotes local alignment with same. Promotes a culture of EHS excellence at facility and provides high-quality EHS technical leadership.


Key accountabilities:

  • Development/coordination of EHS/S programs, EHS permitting, and EHS/S staffing for re-start of a large chemical plant.
  • Ensure timely end-user input throughout all phases of the project, securing EHS point of view/expertise is shared and considered by design team.
  • Coordinates the implementation of company’s Vision “Zero” Commitment – zero incidents, injuries and foot print reduction. Develops environmental, health and safety policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the business/site and to ensure compliance with regulations and Global EHS Standards;
  • Monitors performance of EHS/S programs and regulatory compliance. Maintain all records and reports as defined by regulatory agencies and corporate guidelines. Serves as local expert in environmental, health, safety, and security regulatory issues and directs compliance activities on these matters;
  • Develops permitting and compliance strategies and negotiates for facility with regulatory agencies. Responsible for overseeing the environmental programs including waste disposal, air permitting, and water discharge;
  • Manages, develops and evaluates EHS/S personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the functions;
  • Ensure compliance in areas of environmental, safety and health through risk assessments, self-audits and investigations and assist in the development of controls to reduce or eliminate hazards found within the workplace;


Key requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • Strong EHS experience
  • Ability to influence the organization to accomplish environmental and safety and health objectives and a demonstrated commitment to a participative work environment.
  • Must have knowledge of local environmental, safety and health laws with
  • Strong computer background.
  • Must have good oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing
