Hays Health & Safety are excited to be partnering with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site based in Wrexham to find an experienced and proactive EHS Manager to lead their team. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring full compliance with environmental, health, safety, and occupational health regulations, while fostering a positive safety culture across the site.
Leading a team of 6 EHS & OH professionals you will:

  • Lead and manage the on-site EHS and OH team, providing strategic direction and day-to-day support.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, regional, and corporate EHS/OH regulations and standards.
  • Maintain and improve ISO14001 and ISO45001 (formerly 18001) systems and certifications.
  • Act as a key member of the site's Emergency Response Team.
  • Drive a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement through training, coaching, and communication.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring the site is always audit-ready.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health professionals to manage workplace health risks.
  • Report on EHS KPIs and performance metrics to senior leadership.
  • Represent the site in global EHS forums and incident reviews.


To succeed you will:

  • Have proven experience leading a Health & Safety team, ideally within pharmaceutical, chemical, or food manufacturing environments.
  • Hold a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Have strong working knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage audits, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive accountability across teams.
  • You must have experience managing a team of Health & Safety professionals.


This role comes with a generous day rate of £500-£550/day for the duration of 6 Months.
Please note this role is inside the scope of IR35.
