Role Overview


In thisexciting lab-based role, the successful applicant will be a key member of a small team responsible forexecuting development projects,includingsmall scale optimisationanddevelopmental screeningto pre-defined timelines.


The Development Scientist will be responsible forconducting experiments to generate high-quality experimental datato support the next generation of critical processes. In addition, a key responsibility will be to performlaboratory maintenance/support activitiessuch as stock control, goods in, buffer preparation etc.


This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in amultidisciplinary laboratoryenvironment, has demonstratedproficiency in conducting experiments with data analysis, and who can deliver results to the highest standards under the direction of the scientific management team.


The Platform Development function is afast-paced collaborative environment, aimed atadvancing DNA manufacturing technologiesto deliver new platform processes within Touchlight and to serve the wider industry.


A successful applicant will have exceptional skills inmulti-tasking & organisation.Scientifically curious & consistently reliable, the applicant will need to fit well into afast-paced high throughput environmentwith a keen desire to question, challenge & improve currently held assumptions & procedures.


Skills and Experience


  • Degree inMolecular Biology / Biochemistryor other similar disciplines
  • Ideally2+ years industrial experiencegained in a Biotech and/or CDMO environment as a Development, Research Scientist or Lab Technician
  • Strong molecular biological or chemical backgroundwith understanding of enzymatic reactions
  • Ideally, experience withmaintaining an R&D laboratory environment & stock control
  • Experience withlarge screening techniquesand/orDOE is desirable
  • Excellentproblem-solving skillswith the ability to react swiftly & decisively when faced with challenges
  • Willingness to challenge currently held assumptions – plan, test and engage withcontinuous improvement.
