The Role

The Data and Analytics team is an integral part of the business. We build and deliver the data infrastructure that powers our analytics activity, allowing us to drive value from our data via the provision of analysis, reporting and insights internally to teams across the full span of the business.

We’re looking for an exceptional Data Analyst to help scale our Data & Analytics function. You’ll work on a wide range of projects, spanning across all functional areas of the business. The ideal candidate will leverage data to provide insights that drive decision-making and improve business performance. Working closely with various departments to understand their data needs, analyse data sets, and present your findings in a clear and actionable manner.

The Data Analyst will work with a small team of data professionals to deliver transformational analytical solutions, business intelligence reports and advanced models to drive key business decisions and strategies.

The role requires a strong technical understanding of data platforms, visualisation tools, statistical methods and machine learning techniques. You’ll need to be adaptable, flexible and resourceful in delivering a challenging roadmap whilst our data landscape is transforming. This is a crucial appointment and an amazing opportunity for an ambitious analyst looking to be part of a growing part of the business.

Key responsibilities

Data collection and analysis

  • Perform initial data exploration and analysis, collaborating with Data Engineers and business SMEs.
  • Ensure data integrity, quality and security principles in line with our Data Governance policy.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to develop automated data pipelines and workflows for data collection, analysis and reporting.

Data analysis

  • Analyse data trends, patterns and anomalies using statistical techniques to derive meaningful insights.

Model development and evaluation

  • Utilise machine learning, NLP, Generative AI, and other advanced statistical methods to build predictive and descriptive models.
  • Validate and refine models to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Reporting

  • A proven track record of advanced dashboard development in Tableau.
  • Ability to get hands on and develop data solutions and powerful data visualisations to communicate analysis and findings to stakeholders.
  • Create robust, automated reporting processes that deliver timely, accurate, reliable management information.

Business engagement and collaboration

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and provide analytical support for decision-making.

Performance Monitoring

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide recommendations based on analysis to improve business outcomes.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in data analytics and data science.
  • Conduct research to explore new methodologies and applications in the life sciences sector.
  • Use your knowledge of advanced data systems, analysis and mining techniques to enable the creation and maintenance of complex data sources and reports.
  • Champion the use of data and analytics, increasing adoption and growth across the team. Drive a data led culture and provide advice, support and recommendations on how data can be used to improve business initiatives and drive commercial value.

Assurance and support

  • Provide support for models deployed in a production environment.
  • Support the administration, deployment and configuration of models and associated infrastructure.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for our data, ensuring the use of it is compliant to GDPR standards (and local legislation) and that best practices are applied.

Essential technical skills

  • Proficient in SQL and Python.
  • An ability to analyse complex datasets and extract actionable insights.
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Skilled in building credible statistical models.
  • Knowledge of various learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement).
  • Experience with MLOps practices.
  • Demonstrable experience building visualisations and dashboards in Tableau.
  • An understanding of data management principles in cloud-based technologies.
  • Appreciation of full analytics technology stack, with extensive hands-on experience.
  • Comfortable with solution design and identifying solutions to data problems. Ability to work with Data Engineers to define, implement and manage appropriate architecture/schemas on the data warehouse.
  • A data-driven approach. Competence in manipulating and analysing complex datasets (both structured and unstructured) from multiple sources.
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues, translating complex concepts into simple terms where required.

  • Extremely organised, delivery focused, and deadline driven. The ability to prioritise workload and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Applied knowledge of Agile principles and frameworks like Kanban and Scrum. Roadmap delivery using tools like Jira.
  • The ability to thrive in a risk-taking, fast-paced environment. Enjoy a hands-on role.

  • A confident and conscientious communicator.
  • Experience within and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and associated data.
  • Experience of Tableau Server administration and management best practice, including user management, security and access.
  • Experience building underlying data pipelines and ETL, particularly useful if done using AWS or tools such as dbt.
  • Experience working in an AWS Data Stack (AWS Glue, S3, Sagemaker, BedRock etc.).
