About the Role:
An innovative and fast-growing life sciences publisher is seeking a talented and driven Commissioning Editor to join its editorial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the development of high-impact content across a portfolio of respected digital and print publications in the biomedical space.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience within academic, STM, or trade publishing, with a strong understanding of content strategy, commissioning practices, and author engagement. You’ll be responsible for identifying trending topics, building relationships with key opinion leaders, and shaping high-quality content for a global scientific audience.
Key Responsibilities:
Commission content from researchers, clinicians, and industry experts for digital features, interviews, and opinion pieces
Maintain and develop relationships with editorial board members, authors, and peer reviewers
Monitor scientific and industry trends to identify emerging topics and commissioning opportunities
Collaborate with the editorial, marketing, and production teams to ensure timely delivery of content
Support content planning and development for special issues, supplements, or multimedia formats
Represent the publication at relevant scientific conferences and virtual events when appropriate
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a publishing or editorial role, ideally within STM or life sciences
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and project management abilities
Proven ability to build and manage relationships with academic and industry stakeholders
Passion for science communication and content development
A scientific background (degree in life sciences or related field) is highly desirable
