1042GRECommercial DirectorHinkley Point C, SomersetPermanent Position, Full -timeCompetitive salary based on experienceJob TitleCommercial DirectorDescription & BackgroundAt Hinkley Point C nuclear site, located in West Somerset, we are seeking a Commercial Director to join our Hinkley Point C operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director (HPC), the Commercial Director is responsible for delivering all commercial and contractual aspects of the HPC contract, including but not limited to matters across the portfolio of contracts which encompass the master agreement, reporting, project controls (including planning), payments and finance.We are an engineering and maintenance provider serving multiple industries including chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage. We optimize asset efficiency, increase availability, and reduce maintenance costs through comprehensive lifecycle support—from consulting and engineering to operations and decommissioning. With 4,500 skilled employees across 14 strategically located offices, we deliver excellence while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.Principal ResponsibilitiesDevelop commercial strategy aligned with internal entities, establishing clear goals and targetsProvide NEC contract expertise to Bilfinger teams and lead client meetings to minimize exposureReview and challenge project performance reports, validating financials and resolving underperformanceImplement standardized commercial reporting mechanisms and controls across contractsOwn dispute resolution and ensure timely clearance of Early Warning Notices and Compensation EventsBuild, coach and develop the commercial team while participating actively in performance reviewsValidate commercial aspects of tenders and lead stakeholder management to mitigate financial lossesConduct regular site visits while supporting other commercial directors to drive performanceRequired Qualifications & ExperienceSignificant experience in commercial management within large-scale construction or engineering projectsStrong understanding of NEC contract terms and conditionsExperience in managing complex contractual disputes and negotiationsTrack record of successful commercial leadership in major infrastructure projectsExperience in developing and implementing commercial strategiesEssential SkillsExcellent commercial and contractual acumen, particularly with NEC contractsStrong analytical skills for financial and performance data reviewLeadership abilities to develop and manage commercial teamsNegotiation and stakeholder management expertiseStrategic thinking and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to drive financial performance improvementsStrong communication skills for client and internal stakeholder engagementLocation & Working ArrangementsBased at Hinkley Point C, Somerset with 2 days a week working from homeTravel required 2-3 days a month to other Bilfinger locations in Hull, Warrington, Germany and FranceMore frequent travel required in first 6-9 monthsThis senior leadership role offers an excellent opportunity to join a significant nuclear construction project with a leading engineering services provider, where you'll play a key role in delivering commercial excellence across a complex portfolio of contracts.TPBN1_UKTJ
