This is a unique opportunity to help develop, oversee and be part of the team that deliver an exciting portfolio of trials for cancer patients. This post holder will manage some of our relationships with industry partners, looking at where we can extend our commercial research portfolio as a site, as well as looking for opportunities to develop The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Investigator lead Trials portfolio.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Research Industry Relationship Manager is a senior member of The Royal Marsden’s Clinical Research Directorate, and will be part of the senior research delivery team. The role supports the ongoing partnership between The Royal Marsden and industry partners, working with them from a site perspective and on Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs).

The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized with excellent attention to detail, and proficient in communicating with a wide range of very senior stakeholders across The Royal Marsden and industry partners. They will have the ability to project manage research initiatives effectively and realize benefits for all involved.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Work closely with industry partners to ensure high-quality secretariat services for all meetings between The Royal Marsden and industry partners, including:

o Portfolio Review and Scientific Exchange Meetings
o Cross-study Operational Review Meetings
o Portfolio Delivery Assessment Meetings
o New Capabilities Assessment Meetings

  • Provide secretariat support for meetings of The Royal Marsden’s and industry partners' clinical research committees.
  • Coordinate with the Head of Clinical Research Delivery and industry partners to develop agendas and papers.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Higher degree (e.g., MSc) in a relevant field
  • Experience in oncology

Experience

  • High-level committee secretariat support experience
  • Experience in preparing succinct, high-quality meeting minutes, including senior leadership meetings
  • Development and management of tracking systems for workstreams and actions
  • Delivery of projects on time and within scope
  • Independent working experience requiring decisiveness and judgment
  • Effective communication of complex issues
  • Experience communicating with senior staff, including CEOs and directors
  • Experience fostering customer service and cross-organizational partnerships

Skills / knowledge

  • Proven leadership of high-performing teams
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize and work flexibly
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
